A hazard to society ☢️

The Lincoln Ledger: November 14th, 2025

Happy Friday Ledgers,

The blinding glow of your neighborhood LED Delta-8 sign might soon be just a memory.

The long-awaited government spending bill has finally puff, puff, passed…and quietly tucked into the details is a clause that bans synthetic cannabinoids, including Delta-8, and limits total THC content to 0.4 milligrams per container. That is bad news for your favorite legal(ish) edibles, vapes, and peach rings.

And it’s not just blowing smoke, the clause impacts Nebraska’s faltering hemp industry, which supports approximately 1,600 jobs and brought in nearly 8 million dollars in tax revenue last year.

The law kicks in next year, giving businesses and your burnout cousin time to contact their old plug to adjust, or start panic buying gummies while they still can.

In this week’s issue:

  • HAZ-TO-HAVE: Hazardous waste reuse store opens in Lincoln

  • What To Do: Big jumps, bad scores, and slightly premature holiday cheer

  • Sportz: Set, Spike, Ace

  • Neighborhood Watch: Home for the Gobbledays

Have a great weekend. We’ll see you next Friday. 🫡

HAZ-TO-HAVE

Hazardous waste reuse store opens in Lincoln ☢️

Have you ever opened your cleaning cabinet, reached for that nuclear sludge you use to clean oven grease, and thought, “I wonder what’s actually in this stuff?” Turns out, we probably should not be putting it into the earth.

Since 2017, HazToGo has given Lincoln residents a better option. The city-run program lets people drop off household hazardous waste, like paint, pesticides, and heavy-duty cleaners, so it can be safely recycled or disposed of instead of winding up in a landfill.

And now, there’s a new twist. Today marked the opening of “Good to Go,” a free reuse store located inside the HazToGo facility at 5101 North 48th Street. The new addition offers unopened or lightly used products to the community at no cost. Think of it as Lincoln’s new “second-chance shelf” for cleaning supplies that still have plenty of life left.

The Good to Go Reuse Store is open Wednesdays, Fridays, and every third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. According to the City of Lincoln, reuse programs like this have been shown to increase hazardous waste recycling by 10 percent, a solid step toward keeping fewer chemicals in landfills and more useful products in circulation.

📌 Why it matters
Less waste in the landfill, fewer toxins in the soil, and a cleaner city for everyone. In short, it’s a win-win, for your cabinets, conscience, and the planet.

WHAT TO DO

^Me when I run over the roundabout at the intersection of S. 11th & D Street

Big jumps, bad scores, and slightly premature holiday cheer 🛻

🔥 Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live
Have a child who’s one bad mood away from earning a nickname at daycare? Saturday night, channel their chaos into something productive at Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live: Glow and Fire at PBA. It’s loud, it’s glowing, and yes, there are giant trucks jumping over other giant trucks while fire shoots into the sky. Honestly, you might end up loving it more than they do.

The Final Round
This weekend hits 70 degrees, which means it’s your last real chance to play 18 without wearing gloves. Head to your favorite course, log a score that’s redemptive or quietly shameful, and reflect on a season of missed birdies and found balls that weren’t yours. No matter how it goes, the post-round Miller Lite will still taste like victory.

🎄 Pre-Holiday Décor Shopping
Yes, it’s early. Yes, you’ll do it anyway. This weekend, start your holiday décor run at a few local favorites. Antique Anthology, Cool and Collected, and Cooper & Co. all have the kind of stuff that’ll make your home feel festive, even if you’re still mentally in November.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

Home for the Gobbledays 🎥

A Lincoln Ledger x Hallmark Channel Exclusive | Rated PG for Mild Romantic Yearning

In a world where pitch decks matter more than peace and quiet… one man walks away from tech to follow the call, literally.

After a high-profile product flop and a public breakup with a venture capitalist, Jeremy heads back to Lincoln to regroup. That’s where he finds it: nearly three wooded acres tucked inside city limits, anchored by a rambling ranch, a barn built for second chances, and a living room ready to host the kind of Thanksgiving that changes everything.

As he reconnects with his childhood dream of competitive turkey calling, Jeremy settles into a slower rhythm, morning coffee in the kitchen, long walks on the wraparound drive, and cryptic advice from a neighbor who only appears when he’s most confused. The barn becomes his rehearsal space. The fireplace, his reset button. And somewhere between awkward gobbles and quiet reflection… he finds love again.

Home for the Gobbledays, a holiday tale about letting go, leaning in, and the house that made it all possible.

The Details:

  • 3 beds, 3 baths

  • 3,492 sq/ft

  • Built in 1966

❤️ KEEP: The land, the open layout, the dreamy living room, the barn, and the feeling that you live in a cabin while still being five minutes from a Scooter’s.

🗑️ TOSS: The bedrooms which need a little love, the bathrooms that need a lot of love → good-looking, but not exactly private (just like Jeremy’s love interest).
