WHAT TO DO
Breakfast, duck racing, and day-tripping.
🍳 Big Breakfast
Start your weekend by carb-loading for the day ahead. Head to The Chocolate Season for Waffle Weekend, where you’ll enjoy the best waffles in town. Still hungry? Swing by CTRL Coffee and Cereal Bar for a coffee and cereal combo brought to you by the brains behind Muchachos. Breakfast round two never tasted so good. 🤤
🚐 Day-Trippin
Let’s get out of Lincoln for the day. Here are two options for a bit of weekend adventure:
🦆 Avoca Quack Races
On Saturday, head 40 minutes from Lincoln to Avoca, Nebraska, for the 43rd Annual Quack Off, the world’s preeminent showdown for lightning-fast ducks. Pack a cooler (BYOB) and plan to arrive by 12:30 PM to secure a spot - races kick off at 1:00 PM.⛷️ Mt. Crescent Skiing
For those craving a bit of action after a brutally cold start to the week, head to Mt. Crescent in Council Bluffs. Dust off your skiills or hit the slopes hills for the first time - this is your chance to embrace winter while it lasts (plus, it’s not often you hear us suggest a trip to Council Bluffs that’s unrelated to putting $20 on black at the roulette table).
SPORTZ

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
Home Sweet Dome 🪩
If you’ve ever thought, “My home is just too square,” this might just be the one for you. Welcome to your very own architectural adventure—a dome home built for the quirky, the curious, and the people who prefer to have to custom order every piece of furniture, in perpetuity.
Nestled on 5 acres in Adams, NE, this geometric gem combines curves with character, offering 3 beds, 3 baths, zero corners, and enough personality to make it a standout in any lineup. Think of it as the predecessor to the Henry Doorly Zoo’s famous desert dome—except this one’s all yours.
For those new to dome living, let us fill you in. This architectural anomaly comes with some surprising perks: energy efficiency, structural stability, unique spatial flow, and the opportunity to embrace ultra-high arched ceilings.
The Details:
3 beds, 3 baths
2,622 sq/ft
Built in 1982
Perfect for your hippy aunt ☮️
❤️ KEEP:
The sheer novelty of living in a home that’s anything but ordinary, the mega windows in the living room, and keep what we hope is a spiral staircase (not pictured).
🗑️ TOSS:
The little window by the dining area (put in an even bigger one), the two-tone paint color, and the idea that domes aren’t pretty (here is a great one that was restored in Massachusetts).
CHECKLIST
An over-ambitious weekend to-do list.
Move your couch to the side and vacuum underneath
Take the cushions off your couch and vacuum underneath
Take the covers off of your couch cushions and throw them in the wash
Take a bit of hot water and cleaner to your couch and scrub (a dub-dub)
Get wings delivered & enjoy on your newly (and short-lived) refreshed couch
HEADLINES

Housing: A new 175-unit affordable housing complex is under development in the South Haymarket.
🐯 Weekly Wildcard:
One headline (or post) we never saw coming.
Theft: Car theft in Lincoln is down, but theft attempts are up. This begs the question—why are Lincoln thieves getting worse? We blame social media.
