The Lincoln Ledger: April 19th, 2024
Happy Friday Ledgers,
Proclamation of the Nineteenth Day of April in the Year of Our Lord Taylor Swift, Anno Domini 2024
By decree, it is solemnly pronounced and declared that this day, and all days hereinafter on the nineteenth of April, shall be celebrated and known across the lands as âTortured Poets Department Dayâ.
Let it be celebrated with the reading of verse, the writing of sonnets, and the sharing of woes and melancholic tales that stir the soul and awaken the heart. Let the bards sing of trials and tribulations, of loves lost and passions unquenched, in honor of those tortured poets.
In this weekâs issue:
Rooftop: New rooftop bar opening in Lincoln
What To Do: Easy Listening, East Lincoln, and Early Earth Day.

ROOFTOP BAR
Raise the Roof. đ
Lincoln has no shortage of places to slug down a drink. But next weekend, weâll have one more place to do our bidding. And as a bonus, you get to do it on a rooftop.
Like a giant LEGO block being lifted into the sky, construction crews hoisted an outfitted shipping container atop the roof of Bierhaus Maisschäler at the corner of 8th and P Street in the Haymarket. The process, which reportedly took 5 minutes to complete, marked the end of the journey to ready the new bar and the beginning of Lincolnites enjoying an elevated cold one.
Party of three⌠The bar, aptly called âThe Rooftopâ, will be only the third public rooftop bar in Lincoln. It joins the company of Barryâs Bar and Grill (the OG) and the Barred Owl (home of the perfect date night).
Open for the Spring Game⌠You wonât have to wait long to visit. The new addition to Bierhaus is expected to be open in time for the Spring Game next weekend. Hereâs hoping that we get nice weather. đ¤
A growing portfolio⌠Haused (đ) under the Bierhaus Maisschäler banner, The Rooftop is owned and operated by Cody Schmick and Kinkaider Brewing Company. It joins Kinkaiderâs growing brewery and distillery portfolio that includes four breweries across Nebraska, and Sideshow Spirits.
Do you think more "adult-focused" bars and restaurants help retain talent in Lincoln? |

Easy Listening, East Lincoln, and Early Earth Day.
After an absolutely beautiful weekend, this one will feel a bit colder. Weâll split our time between our faithful space heaters & the allergy medicine cabinet.
đ¸ Easy Listening.
Tonight is a night for good, cheap live music. Youâll have your choice of venues and genres. Keep it close to home, or venture out to Venice, NE, for some country music. Here are the best shows we found this weekend. đ¤
đł East Lincoln Evening
On Saturday, weâll spend the morning on our chore list and the afternoon on a personal project. But come 4:00 PM, weâll go to East Lincoln for drinks and apps at Venue before making our way north to do some mini bowling during Adult Night at Wonder Bowl - Lincoln. Donât take the game too seriously; after all, it is just a tiny lilâ bowling ball weâre talking about here.
đ Early Earth Day
A week of wild thunderstorms has us thinkingâhowâs that whole âpreserve the planet thing going?â Weâll spend Sunday volunteering and making the world a little bit better. Want to make it fun? Fleet Feet is hosting a trail clean-up event: participants get one hour to pick up as much trash as possible. Youâll win a prize and feel good about yourself.
