Sinkhole Love - TLL Mini Edition ❤️
The Lincoln Ledger: February 14th, 2025
Happy Valentine’s Day Ledgers,
What a week—from weather so cold it made our nipples chafe, to an unrelenting wave of viral illnesses spreading faster than a middle school mono epidemic post-winter dance, this week was more about surviving than thriving. As for the pink icing on the heart-shaped cookie, there was a literal sinkhole forming in the street in our dear, frost-kissed city. In the spirit of such a memorable series of events, we couldn’t resist writing a little ballad to set the perfect mood for your romantic evening—crafted, of course, in our little-known, totally real, Grammy Award-winning studio (definitely not AI).
In this week’s issue:
What To Do: Romance, rock, and really cold water 🧊
Sportz: Throw it LOOOONNNNNNGGG 🏈
Neighborhood Watch: Moody Tudy 🕯️🍷
Want the full dose of our first mixtape? Check out our SoundCloud. Rumor has it, Kendrick was streaming it when inspiration struck for his series of harrowing diss tracks.

💘 Love Shack at Captain Jack’s
Captain Jack’s has transformed into the Love Shack for the Valentine’s season, and it’s the perfect spot to kick off your weekend. The bar will be open all month, so it’s worth checking out.
Looking for something a little more intimate? Here are a few Lincoln favorite romantic bars. Word of advice, get there early to get ahead of the crowds:
🧊 Polar Plunge
On Saturday, you’ll freeze your ass off (but this time at least it is for a good cause) at the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Nebraska. Complete your online registration and head to Holmes Lake (70th & Normal Blvd) for check-in at 9:30 AM, with the plunge starting at 11:00 AM. It’s the perfect way to freeze your way into some feel-good vibes.
🤘 Lincoln Exposed
Get ready to SHRED. Lincoln Exposed is in full swing this weekend, featuring over 100 local bands across five venues in downtown Lincoln. You’ll grab an all-day pass for $35 and hop between Bourbon Theater, Zoo Bar, Duffy’s Tavern, Bodega’s Alley, and 1867 Bar. Each venue is just a short walk from the next, so you won’t miss a beat. The festival runs through Saturday—don’t miss this showcase of Lincoln’s music scene.
🎭 💃 Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Lied Center (Sponsored)
Perfectly timed for Valentine’s Day, this weekend is your last chance to hit The Lied Center for Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Packed with romance and drama, it’s the perfect way to spend the evening.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
Moody tudy 🕯️🍷
You had us at shingle thatch roof. This 1926 Tudor, perched on one of Lincoln’s most iconic boulevards, feels like a storybook come to life. But let’s get straight to the point: you’re buying this home for the great room. With soaring ceilings and a jaw-dropping arched window that floods the space with natural light, this is the kind of spot that begs for moody evenings. Dim the lights, mix a cocktail (or three), and sink into the kind of atmosphere that makes every gathering unforgettable.
The rest of the home? It’s full of surprises. With four bedrooms, three baths, and 2,586 sq. ft. of charm spread across three stories, you’ll find plenty of spaces to call your own. The finished basement and attic add bonus flexibility—perfect for a cozy hideaway, an office, or even a speakeasy-style bar.
As for the backyard? While it’s not visible in the listing photos, a quick Google Street View creeping session makes us confident it has plenty of entertaining potential. We’re picturing outdoor seating, string lights, and a spot to take the party outside on warm summer nights.
The Details:
4 beds, 3 baths
2,586 sq/ft
Built in 1926
❤️ KEEP:
The great room (obviously, it’s the star), the shingle thatch roof, the covered driveway for added charm and practicality, the barred door (in the best possible way), the crystal/glass door knobs that feel like a little touch of luxury, and those big globe light pendants in the great room that tie it all together (yes, it always comes back to the great room).
🗑️ TOSS:
The kitchen layout, which seems to have you logging more steps than your fitness tracker requires (let’s tighten that up), the front entry area, which is perfectly sized but feels like it’s waiting for its wow factor, and, of course, the price tag, which crushes our souls just a little. (The curse of having champagne taste on a Natural Light budget)
